On Saturday, September 8th the La Mirada Disc Golf Club held their Monthly Disc Golf Tournament.
This month we played two (2) rounds of 18 holes. At 10am we played the Lakeside-18 PAR 54 course. In the afternoon we played the BACK-18 PAR 57 course.
We had a good turnout this month with 34 players in four (4) divisions, Open (6), Advanced (12), Intermediate (10) and Novice (6).
In the Open division it was Bobby Musick who took 1st place with a score of 93 (-18) for $49.
On Tuesday, September 4th the La Mirada Disc Golf Club held their Weekly Disc Golf Tournament. This is the 1st of four remaining weekly tournaments. The weekly tournaments will run through September and then be suspended for the Winter.
This week we played the BACK-18 PAR 57 course. We had 18 players in four (4) divisions, Open (5), Advanced (4), Intermediate (2) and Novice (7).
In the Open division it was "Super" Dave Bretado who took 1st place with a score of 50 (-7) for $41.
On Tuesday, August 28th the La Mirada Disc Golf Club held their Weekly Disc Golf Tournament. We had 27 players in four (4) divisions, Open (6), Advanced (6), Intermediate (7) and Novice (8). We played the LAKE-18 PAR 54 course this week.
In the Open division it was Jose Alcala who took 1st place with a score of 44 (-10) for $49. He beat out Joel Hall once again by 1 stroke. Poor Joel...can't he get a break? Maybe next week...
In the Advanced division it was Mark Allen who took 1st with a score of 52 (-2) for $29. Congrats Mark and welcome back!
On Tuesday, August 21st the La Mirada Disc Golf Club held their Weekly Disc Golf Tournament. We had another low turn out this week despite the really nice weather. We had 29 players in four (4) divisions, Open (6), Advanced (7), Intermediate (7) and Novice (9). We played the Back-18 PAR 57 course this week.
In the Open division it was Jose Alcala who took 1st place with a score of 47 (-10) for $49. Joel Hall and Kyle Maddox tied for 2nd with a 48.
In the Advanced division it was Dan Dantuma returing to the leader circle once again with a score of 52 (-5) for $29.
On Tuesday, August 14th the La Mirada Disc Golf Club held their Weekly Disc Golf Tournament. We had a low turn out this week with only 23 players in four (4) divisions, Open (4), Advanced (6), Intermediate (6) and Novice (7). We played the Lakeside-18 PAR 54 course this week.
In the Open division it was Kyle Maddox who took 1st place with a 49 (-6) for $32.
In the Advanced division it was Richard Ewald who took 1st place with a score of 50 (-4) for $29.
On Saturday, August 11th the La Mirada Disc Golf Club held their Monthly Disc Golf Tournament. Despite the very hot and humid day there was a good turnout to play, with 39 in four (4) divisions, Open (6), Advanced (12), Intermediate (15) and Novice (6). For this monthly we played a PAR 66 Championship Course. It included a number of PAR 4 holes and at least one PAR 5, although many thought that Lake Tee #10 to Basket #12 should be a PAR 5.
The Pro's spoke to me after the Weekly on Tuesday and convinced me to have one round of a modified Golden State Layout for the Monthly on Saturday. This is the layout where we play both courses as one round of 18 holes. It includes the PAR 5 in the back and several PAR 4's making the total PAR 68.
On Tuesday, August 7th the La Mirada Disc Golf Club held their Weekly Disc Golf Tournament. It was hot all day, but fortunately the cool breeze came out in the evening to cool things down. This week we played the BACK-18 PAR 57 course. We another good turnout with 40 players in four (4) divisions, Open (6), Advanced (9), Intermediate (12) and Novice (13).
In the Open division we had a tie between Joel Hall and Mike Williams. They shot 50 (-7) for $39 each. Nice seeing both of you in the winner's circle again...
