Hi Rick and thanks for the reply. I wasn't able to go to last weeks tournament, but i'll make it to as many as I can during this summer. Thanks for the information, see you there.
Welcome Yves and thanks for becoming a club member. My name is Rick Ascheri. I currently run the weekly and monthly tournaments. We have a Novice division that is perfect for new players. The point of the Novice division is to learn the correct way to play and to have fun while you practice trying to improve your game. We would love to have you start playing now. There are a number of other club members that play in the Novice division and we currently have an Open player, Super Dave Bretado that plays in the Novice division that I'm sure would be more than happy to help you learn the rules... Our next weekly is Tuesday, July 5th at 5:00pm. We play every Tuesday at 5:00pm thru the summer. We hope to see you here.
Not new to the game but I have never been to California before, mainly a Georgia disc golfer here. Myself and a friend are about to fly out to the area though in a few hours. Main goal is to play the first course at Oak Grove Park. Then we have about a week and a half for checking out any and all courses that are worth it, word is that there are many. So if anyone has any recommendations please post. Or if you are down to meet up and play let me know, it is always good to have a guide at an unfamiliar course.
Thanks for the input Chris. I have made some changes to the main page of the website to help with some of these items. Let me know what you think of the changes.
Hola guys, If you ever need some help with your game or are around La Mirada with no competition/group. Feel free to hit me up for any kind of frisbee games.

I live super close to the park and am totally willing to bring my video camera out.
I remember the first time that I met Tim was at the 2006 US Masters Disc Golf Championships. We were introduced to him by some local disc golfers. When we first met it felt like we had been friends since high school. Tim made us feel at home with helping at the tournament and really needed. Both my wife (Debbie) and I (Rick) will always remember him telling jokes, listening to our stories, and laughing together. He was a very loving man to everyone. We wish his family the best as they go through this difficult time.
Since you seem to have a handle on changing the basket positions would you be interested in updating a page here that would show the new pin locations?
I was thinking of just having a text table where you would select a button to select the location of the basket. If not a button then just move an X from one table position to another. Let me know if you think you can handle it and I will set it up and give you permissions to modify it. Also, if you have others that can help you do this I will give them the permissions as well.
Sorry Juan. It was kind of a joke. I figured that you would see it and then decide to change it. Although I can't think of why you would pick me as the alternative. Email me a photo of your choice and I will post one for you...or feel free to select another image of your choosing. Later, Rick.
We had a good turn out for the La Mirada Night Golf last night. We had 29 players playing. The baskets were well lit and with a disc light attached to your disc you could easily see how close your throw got to the basket. It was alot of fun! I want to thank Indigo Brude, Jerry Ross, Mike Hole and everyone else that helped creating the lights and setting up the baskets for this event.
We will be having another Night Golf event next month. The next night golf event includes a BBQ as well.
I'm hearing a lot of complaints that the course is too short. Let me first just say that the basket movement was a spur of the moment decision and not at all planned out. But as we (Chris Oakes, Super Dave, Jim and Andy) were moving them, we decided to make this a once a week deal. We plan on moving about 3 baskets per week. So if you don't like the course now, come back next week and maybe it will be a little better for you. I personally would like to move them on Wednesdays, that way you have a week to play it before the weekly tourny. So if anyone would like to help please reply to this and let me know. It's not as easy as you might think.
Hey Mike, an Online Current Course Configuration is a great idea. In fact we discussed this on Wednesday night at the Board Meeting. Do you have an idea of what you think would be a good way to show this information? We discussed having a list of holes like this:
Lakeside-18 Course Configuration
Pin Position
A
B
C
D
E
F
G
H
Hole#01
X
Hole#02
X
Or the other thought was to have a graphics version of each hole that showed its current position. We of course would also have the latest course map available that had the update. You could download and print out the course map and the course map itself would show the changes.
Please comment on these ideas. Thanks again, Rick.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to revitalize the course.
The only suggestion that I would make is to intersperse some long holes along with the short holes. This will still challenge the better players and not discourage the recreational players.
The course needs to be changed more often than it has been in the past to keep things fresh. I know that there are some pin positions out there that I havn't played in the two years I've been back in the sport. The one thing that I've always liked about Eldo is that every time I go there the course is different.
Maybe we could have a designated change the course day. If everyone knew when that day was going to be, I think you whould have more people show up to help.
And while I'm at it, I think an online course map showing the current course(s) configuration would be really cool.
Good job Dave. What are the names of the other volunteers that helped in this endevor? Also, electrical tape is fine as marker. I also have some plastic post it note arrows that I have been using. We could also take off the plastic cover and put the arrow or tapes behind the plastic so it isn't removed or we can just put them on the outside like we have been doing and replace them when they are gone. Thanks again. Rick.
I don't think that we can fight this. My understanding is that the county has already put the new person under contract and that he will be occuping the Pro Shop in June. I was told that the Pro Shop would be closed through May. Also, it is unclear right now what type of services the new owner will have. He is strictly a tennis guy with his own Tennis Business. We will have to see what happens. If we don't get the services that we need then we will take it to the County Parks & Recs department and complain. I'm not sure there is much else that we can do at this point.

Once a week?! Great!! I will be happy to help. At what time do you guys do it?
Oh, I do have a request...
I will be happy to help provided that the "web master"
takes off the ridiculous image that he took the liberty to choose for me!
